Dear Juno (or any other teenager in a similar situation),
I am so sorry you are stuck in all of this. You should’ve known the consequences before you decided to have sex. Did it maybe ever occur to you that if you had sex, oh I don’t know, you could get pregnant? You’re 16! You should have thought about this by now. What the hell were you thinking? Having sex just because you were bored? Did you even check if he had STD’s?
I think you made the right decision in not aborting the baby and giving it up to someone who would be able to really care and love him/her to death. Giving the baby to Vanessa was the best thing you could have possible done in the situation you were in. You did good in telling your parents that you were pregnant. Sure they freaked out and went hysterical, but it shows that you were mature enough to face the consequences for what you did. You would need their support anyways. If I was in your situation, I would have done the same.
I really think you should have talked about family planning before everything (but you’re 16 so you would have never thought of that). Family planning is important because you can ask yourself, “Well what if I got pregnant at "X" years old? How would that impact me? How would that impact my future? Would I be able to provide the mental, emotional, and material things that this baby would need?” It would really make you have second thoughts about engaging in sexual intercourse “just for the fun of it”.
